Artist Statement
I’m Debbie Thompson, an artist who paints primarily en plein air — the process of creating art outdoors, immersed in the landscape itself. Deeply influenced by the Impressionists and Fauvists, I strive to interpret the beauty and emotion of the natural world through a variety of mediums and artistic movements.
Bold brushstrokes, unexpected pops of color, and intuitive color choices are hallmarks of my work. I’m drawn to the ever-changing effects of light, atmosphere, and season, using color and movement to capture not just what I see, but what I feel in the moment.
