Artist Statement

I painted a Pine Warbler on natural wood using acrylic paints. First I sketched the body of the bird and did research to discover that White Pine was the best choice for the background. I painted the White Pine branches and then the Pine Warbler. I added a variety of shades of olive, yellow, and brown to match the Pine Warblers bright camouflage.  I decided to paint a Pine Warbler because they live near Kings Gap in the pine forests of the South Mountains.  Kings Gap was also the first place that I had ever seen a Pine Warbler while on a birding excursion.  The most rewarding part of painting birds is that I get to share the beauty of nature with others.
