IN AN EFFORT TO STAY CONNECTED WITH OUR MEMBER ARTISTS, WE THOUGHT WE WOULD VISIT THEIR STUDIOS AND SHARE A BIT OF THEIR WORK IN PROGRESS WITH YOU.
• TODAY WE WILL FEATURE ROBERTA IULA •
Keeping at it in the studio during this quarantine time!
It’s always good to be ready for future known and unknown shows, exhibits and goals.
Well, this is where I work. I am very comfortable in here with four large windows with many views. I have never been able to achieve an orderly, clean studio. I’ve tried, but I am never successful with that.
I am working on oils, acrylics, and drawings of chairs. Dealing with the beauty of them, the comfort and design of them – and how they are used in the landscape or room. “The Yellow Room” is not finished yet. Has a mood of – Do not sit on me.
Recently finished this 15” x 30” oil on canvas. “Embedded” is part of my Sycamore Series. The landscape is in Gettysburg. The land, plant material, fields and structure are so established, deep seated and old… so my title is “Embedded”. I will frame it now.
I use Poplar or Pine when making my frames. Cut the lengths, sand them, then stain or paint them appropriately, and I attach them to the canvas frame with a nail gun.
