IN AN EFFORT TO STAY CONNECTED WITH OUR MEMBER ARTISTS, WE THOUGHT WE WOULD VISIT THEIR STUDIOS AND SHARE A BIT OF THEIR WORK IN PROGRESS WITH YOU.

I am excited to be exhibiting my found object sculptures at CALC in an exhibit opening August 7th.
A very common question posed by my clientele is how do my works go together, where do you start? Well, to answer, generally each begins with an inspiration piece that in essence launches the project. I then sit on the idea for a period of time kind of formulating my vision for the piece.
The following shots depict how one of my latest pieces came together- "Road Kill" my latest interpretation of an Armadillo; a subject that has always been kind of dear to me. - Jason Lyons
Road Kill began with the set of throwing shoes and shuffleboard
rackets that make up the core of his body.
Once the size and scale of the piece has been generally determined, the head and
body attachment structure is created to mount the main body components on to.
From there the process of "filling out" the body begins, working from the overall
vision formulated before. However, pieces do not always go as planned and parts are scrapped and others implemented.
The process is continued, working to fit each part individually always working from the original
vision until the sculpture is complete and every detail has been addressed.
