IN AN EFFORT TO STAY CONNECTED WITH OUR MEMBER ARTISTS, WE THOUGHT WE WOULD VISIT THEIR STUDIOS AND SHARE A BIT OF THEIR WORK IN PROGRESS WITH YOU.

• TODAY WE WILL FEATURE GRETCHEN SHEA •

I'd been working with metal for several years when I decided to try making a little house. My grandparents made little wooden houses and I sometimes use those for inspiration! You can see my other work and the work I make with my husband at www.copperoakstudios.com or follow us on Instagram at @copperoakstudios

Love my tiny studio! It is literally the walk-in closet in the upstairs hallway. I can cram a lot of tools in a small space!

I used my jeweler's saw to cut out the walls, windows, doors and trim.

The house is upside down on a coil of copper while I solder the roof on.  The copper coil holds the whole thing in place and allows me to get heat to all sides of the roof.

And here is the finished house!  It's about 1 inch tall and made completely out of copper.
