CALC is hosting a field trip to The Bower, a 36-acre meadow and woodland site on a north slope of the northern Appalachian Mountains in Perry County. The Bower landscape features wild and introduced native plants throughout an enhanced open landscape and woodlands. The lush nature is complimented with large-scale sculptures and land art. The owners, Jane and Bill Allis, collaborated with landscape architects and artists to design and construct landscape, gardens, sculptures, and facilities placed sensitively within the extensive woodland and acres of meadows.
Bring your cameras or sketchbook and enjoy the morning with our special group! Carpooling is suggested. See The Bower website for other FAQs if you have never visited.
There is no fee to visit. However, CALC would like to collect a cash donation on arrival to help support Bill and Jane Allis' endeavor.
For this visit, CALC has partnered with The People's Provisions, an all-local community centered specialty food store in Elliotsburg to provide a fresh, seasonal salad with veggies, fruit, and cheese with a variety of dressings and a cookie (or GF, DF brownie). Please note any dairy-free or GF requests in registration. Lunch is $15.
