Our Fire is Stronger Than Your Bombs A Special 2-day Pop-Up Exhibition of War Posters by Contemporary Ukrainian Illustrators

  • 38 West Pomfret Street Carlisle, PA, 17013 United States (map)

Sponsored by the J. Sherwood McGinnis, Jr. War, Peace, and Justice Project and Carlisle Arts Learning Center:

FREE Exhibit Open to the Public: Friday, August 22, 10am-5pm and Saturday, August 23, 10am-3pm

In honor of Ukrainian Independence Day on August 24th, this exhibit commemorates over three years since Russia launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine and draws attention to the war raging in the heart of Europe. It is a retrospective of the war through artworks by nine Ukrainian illustrators, most of whom live and work in Ukraine — sometimes with no power, water, cell signal, or Internet connection. Many of them have long been collaborating with global media, in particular, New Yorker, the Atlantic, Zeit, Adweek, and other outlets. The 10 posters on display have been created by 9 emerging and well-established illustrators since the beginning of the full-scale invasion: Viewing their artwork illuminates

the struggle of the Ukrainian people against Russian aggression and the ongoing sacrifices being made daily by Ukrainians to defend their homeland. Peace with justice for Ukraine!
