IN AN EFFORT TO STAY CONNECTED WITH OUR MEMBER ARTISTS, WE THOUGHT WE WOULD VISIT THEIR STUDIOS AND SHARE A BIT OF THEIR WORK IN PROGRESS WITH YOU.
• TODAY WE WILL FEATURE CAROL REED •
There are several things going on in my studio now. Naturally dyeing is ramping up with Spring so I’m working on new scarves and maybe socks and also this, which is a continuation of what I was doing in the Untamed Color Show at CALC. Enjoy!
This is one of the works from the Untamed Color Show this past January
I wanted to explore stronger, more tactile and local materials for the vessels.
Local wool seemed the answer. I experimented with various ways to get the forms I wanted including on a giant balloon and with bubble wrap.
I thought I was close to done at this point, really liking the way the wool had felted.
Then I did this. Botanically dyed with purple dead nettle and avocado pits. It’s still drying in this photo. Definitely still a WIP.
