This is an intro to basic drawing skills. A four week adventure for the developing artist.  Each week will include hands on learning.  

In this class you will learn:

  • Line :  static vs dynamic , positive vs negative space 

  • Shape :  turning 2D into 3D shapes (cubes, spheres, cylinders, cones).

  • Perspective: Creating the illusion of 3D space, depth, and volume on a 2D surface. Five different approaches.

  • Value / Light: the importance of balance

  • Composition: focal point / rule of thirds, color dominance, flow

Materials to purchase for class:

  • Sketchbook

  • Art pencils (2B, 4B, 6B)

Refund and Cancellation Policies:

As a nonprofit organization, the Carlisle Arts Learning Center reserves the right to cancel a course that does not meet minimum enrollment requirements, or postpone any program or activity due to unforeseen circumstances. When the Carlisle Arts Learning Center cancels a class, registered students automatically receive a credit towards another class. It is the students responsibility to contact CALC to fulfill this credit. CALC will provide full refunds in the case of a cancelled class when necessary.

In order to request a withdrawal from a class or workshop, students must contact CALC at least 72 hours before the first class date. Students who request a withdrawal before the 72 hour period will receive a 90% refund or 100% class credit. Students withdrawing fewer than 72 hours before the first day of class are not eligible for a refund or class credit.

Please note we are unable to provide make-up opportunities, prorate or provide refunds for missed classes due to personal scheduling conflicts.
