Today our food
Made to accompany CALC + ArtWorks’ first collaboration with the Employment Skills Center ESL program, this booklet includes four international soup recipes (and accompanying visuals) that were enjoyed at Project SHARE’s 2023 Empty Bowls community dinner. Also included are soup recipe submissions that were not cooked for the event.
Connect: May we have your attention please?
During summer 2023, teens in CALC’s CONNECT program explored projects that related to paying attention. This booklet documents each week of the camp, and it includes information about the projects and partnerships with local organizations who provided enrichment and support for the students.
overcoming separateness
Care and love are both complex, essential parts of living—through all stages, ages, and relationships. This booklet documents a project and a pair of exhibits (2024) made in partnership with the United Way of Carlisle & Cumberland County’s “The Basics 5” initiative, in which artists illustrated key principles of interaction that support healthy childhood development. It includes works by Artzbeat, Luke Gawron, Molly Goehring, Michelle Moats, and Carol Reed alongside a series of community-based artworks.
prompts for practicing
During Middle School ArtLab (2022-23), each class day started with a sketchbook prompt. This booklet contains every prompt from that school year, along with artists and contextual references. Both youth and adults can benefit from the drawing inspiration in this booklet!
messages from the future
As part of the Summer 2024 CONNECT program, students worked with Visiting Artist Mia Cinelli to make ephemera from the future. Their creations took the form of stickers, posters, and postcards, and all of their projects are included in this pack.
