Self-motivated and creatively-inclined high school students can join us in “Art Lab”. This program is a space for students to make their own art projects, spend time with friends and other creative people, and generally have a good time thinking outside of the box! “Art Lab” will serve as an intensive deep dive into the mediums and experiments of their choice. Students will have opportunities to develop their ideas, occasionally visit relevant sites/people in town, and learn about contemporary artists and methods. Each student is expected to formulate a small number of pieces, one of which can be submitted to display in the annual CALC Members’ Art Exhibit. Through this explorative experience, students will learn about important concepts crucial to art making, interact with each other’s work, and gain experience that can support future endeavors in a variety of creative professions. Students will work independently but with feedback from their instructor, peers, and occasional visiting artists.

NEW THIS YEAR: “Teen Collective” will meet during High School Art Lab. This is an optional break-out group for students interested in collaborating, making creative events for their fellow teens, learning more about social forms of art, and creating art in public spaces. It is a great opportunity for students who participated in CALC’s ArtWorks program during middle school, and anyone else who wants to join in!
