Mixed Media "Play Day' Workshop

Drop in as your schedule permits. Bring materials you wish to swap and share with other artists. (ex. papers, old books, magazines, trinkets, supports, excess paint or mediums.) Feel free to bring your preferred paints, medium, and brushes for your own use.

11 - 12ish:  Create your own hand painted papers.  Papers provided. Plenty of protected space will be available for painting and printing.

1 - 2ish:  Cathy will show some transfer methods and project examples for inspiration.

3 - 4ish: End of day Trading Card pARTy, make one...take one!

CALC will provide glues, basic paints, artist trading card blanks, small journals, 5x7 boards, and a variety of odd frames and supports for your use.

Please be prepared to take home any swap materials contributed but not used.

Light snacks provided. Lunch on your own.

Paint Night ~ Lake Reflections

Let’s get BURN’n! Pyrography literally means “fire writing.” In this 2 1/2-hour workshop you will be guided through the process from preparing your surface to fire writing your own tree of life! This is an adventurous practice of meditative drawing, mindfulness, patience, and intention that you can take with you and make your own.

Have you always wanted to learn oil painting but were a little intimidated by the process? Follow along with Lina as she explains step by step, the use of materials, value studies, color mixing and more. Students will complete a trio of pears on a marble table. Each class builds on the next so it is important that you are able to come to each class. Paints and canvas supplied. Please bring your own brushes and paper towels.

Earth, Sea and Sky: Paint What You Love

Working from your own photograph, learn good composition before you paint and understanding values; learn to leave out the unimportant “stuff” and focus on why you chose that scene to photograph in the first place. Improve your skills and achieve your personal goals in watercolor. Individual instruction and work at your own pace too. Bring your own work from home for critique or help for improvement. Learn some “how to” techniques. Critique at the end of each class day. Some experience with watercolor needed.

Saturday ARTISTS Group(Formerly, Saturday Morning DRAW Group)

If you have a strong passion for making art, are interested in further developing your skills, and are willing to participate by sharing your work with fellow artists, this is the group for YOU! We will exchange information, ideas, and resources as well as offer enthusiasm and encouragement to one another. Group meets at CALC for share and critique sessions, as well as off site to experience and make art together. 

Artists Group will provide accountability for projects and deadlines and provide support for folks in and interested in the business of art. Bring a sketchbook and art to share. You’ll leave each meeting feeling inspired and motivated!

Note: Most meetings will be held at CALC, but A few times a year, we’ll meet off-site to view shows at local venues, or to sketch/paint.


Figure Drawing Group

costumed model in a mix of long & short poses. No

CALC Refund Policy for Art Classes
Carlisle Arts Learning Center does not provide a cash refund for cancellation of art classes, unless the class is cancelled by CALC. In order to request a withdrawal from a class or workshop, students must contact CALC at least 5 days before the first class meeting. Students who request a withdrawal at least 5 days prior to the first meeting will receive a 90% tuition class credit. Students withdrawing fewer than 5 days from the first day of class are not eligible for a class credit.
Please note we are unable to provide make-up opportunities, prorate or provide refunds for missed classes due to personal scheduling conflicts.
