Landscape in Watercolor

Ages: Adults and Seniors

Fee: $135 member ($150 non-member)
3 Saturdays: May 6, 13, 20 

Time:  11:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. (Bring a lunch) 

Students will work from their own reference photos and, if weather permits, we will set up at an outdoor location for at least one class as an introduction to plein air painting. Students should bring their own painting supplies and materials.
Prerequisite: Basic landscape drawing, and completion of
beginning painting/drawing classes.

Note: When a plein air class is planned, a time change & proper attire will be discussed in class prior to our paint out day.

Linda Young, PWS, BWS, has earned a signature artist status with the Pennsylvania Watercolor Society and Baltimore Watercolor Society; also a member artist of the Susquehanna Valley Plein Air Painters. She has taken many workshops with professional artists from all over the U.S. and passes along the information she learns to her students.

Small Abstracts

Teacher: David Reinbold

Ages: 16 – Adult

4 Tuesdays: June 6, 13, 20, 27 

Time: 6:30 - 8:00 p.m.

 

The visual impact of small abstract paintings on board will be explored. Paint on boards no larger than 8” x 8”, with a limited color palette, students will use non-traditional implements to move paint in an interesting manner.

David Reinbold has a BFA in Fine Arts and a MFA in
Drawing and Painting. He has taught college level students in the disciplines of life drawing, painting, conte drawing, and computer graphics. David’s drawings and paintings are included in private, corporate and museum collections in the United States and abroad, and have been reproduced in the David P. Richards Northlight Book, “How to Discover Your Personal Painting Style”, The Artist’s Magazine and Quest Magazine (Theosophical Society).

5 Mondays and 1 Wednesday:

June 5, 12, 19, 26; July 5, 10

Time: 6:00-8:00 p.m.

In this class, students will learn basic to moderately advanced watercolor techniques through practice and hands-on learning. Each week we will cover new techniques to work with for the remainder of that class. The first 3 classes will be focused on demonstrations and practicing and the last 3 practices will be focused on working on paintings of the students’ choices.

Throughout this workshop students will learn basic to moderately advanced watercolor techniques. The focus of this class will be for students to become familiar with watercolor tools and techniques through practice and hands-on learning. Students will work on 1-2 paintings (time permitting) one of which will be their choice.

Oil Painting Experience-the Adult Camp

Saturday, July 8

Time: 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Escape your summer work and attend this 1 day workshop that covers most of the Oil Painting Experience class - for those new to oil painting or just a bit rusty. We’ll play with oil paint, its associated mediums & tools, and learn about color mixing, glazing & texture while completing several paintings.

We’ll break for an hour lunch. Bring your own or visit one of Carlisle’s many wonderful restaurants.

CALC Refund Policy for Art Classes

Carlisle Arts Learning Center does not provide a cash refund for cancellation of art classes, unless the class is cancelled by CALC. If the student cancels with a notice of at least 30 days prior to the start of the class a gift certi cate will be issued for 100% of the class fee. If the student cancels with less than 30 days prior notice a gift certi cate will be issued for 90% of the class value.
