Each week, the instructor will give a short demonstration and creative prompts.Painters are then free to work on their own self determined projects with help as needed. Suggestions for improving drawing, color, and composition will be made as well as sharing and group critiques. Acrylic paints and most needed materials provided.

Day of Drawing Workshop

Time: 10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
Fee:  $60 ($65 non-members)
Begin by brushing up on basic drawing skills and progress to value studies in your favorite sketchbook. By the end of the session you will have completed larger drawings on tinted paper of a still life, draped fabric and a figure drawing or portrait. Mediums will be graphite and white conte pencils or charcoal and white pastel pencils.

Along with a bag lunch, class members should bring a small 18 x18” drawing board with handle, a small set of hard and soft graphite pencils, eraser and a 9 x 12” sketchbook. An additional supply list will be available upon registration.

Paint What You Love

Working from your own photograph, learn good composition before you paint and understand the importance of values; learn to leave out the unimportant “stuff”. Improve your skills and achieve your personal goals in watercolor.  Individual instruction and work at your own pace too. Bring your own work from home for critique or help for improvement. Learn some “how to”  techniques. Critique at the end of each class day as time allows. Some experience with watercolor required.

Basic Watercolor

Create a Sketchbook!

Create a personal sketchbook from top to bottom.  In the first session you will marble fabric for a book cover and paper for end page. We will also create some small folded books. In the second session you will put the book together, learning to sew folios and glue end pages.

Have you always wanted to learn oil painting but were a little intimidated by the process? Follow along with Lina as she explains step by step, the use of materials, value studies, color mixing and more. Students will complete a trio of pears on a marble table. Each class builds on the next so it is important that you are able to come to each class. Paints and canvas supplied. Please bring your own brushes and paper towels.

CALC Refund Policy for Art Classes
Carlisle Arts Learning Center does not provide a cash refund for cancellation of art classes, unless the class is cancelled by CALC. In order to request a withdrawal from a class or workshop, students must contact CALC at least 5 days before the first class meeting. Students who request a withdrawal at least 5 days prior to the first meeting will receive a 90% tuition class credit. Students withdrawing fewer than 5 days from the first day of class are not eligible for a class credit.
Please note we are unable to provide make-up opportunities, prorate or provide refunds for missed classes due to personal scheduling conflicts.
