"My Thread And I"
A Juried Exhibit

Molly Pitcher Stitchers
The
Carlisle Arts Learning Center in downtown Carlisle is pleased to present "My Thread
and I", a juried exhibit of needlework by the Molly Pitcher Stitchers. The exhibit
runs from June 6 - July 12.
There will be a reception for the exhibit on Friday, June 6,
from 6:30 - 8pm.
This exhibit contains 50 wonderfully diverse examples of needlework.
Needlework is any technique that uses a needle. The pieces exhibited range from samplers
and smocks to sewing boxes and ornaments. Included is a beaded amulet bag, created by Mary
Wohler, measuring 6"x3" that contains over 6650 beads and took two years to
make. Also being shown is an award winning sampler that was designed and stitched by
Cheyenne Dyarman when she was 7 years old. A variety of techniques were utilized to create
the works including cross-stitch, French sewing, Hardangar, stump work, and English gold
thread and wirework. These are truly one of a kind pieces done with exquisite skill.
The exhibit was chosen by three judges with more than 80 years
experience. they include Elizabeth Graff, current exhibit chair of the Mid-Atlantic region
Embroiderers Guild of America (EGA), Pat Reynolds, current National Director of Education
for the EGA, and Kay Strong, President of the Molly Pitcher Stitchers.
The Molly Pitcher Stitchers is a local chapter of the Embroiderer's
Guild of America, a national organization that promotes needle arts in America. Its
members share a love of needlework. The Molly Pitcher Stitchers chapter was chartered in
1985 with 35 members and currently has approximately 80 members. The Molly Pitcher
Stitchers exist to promote and expand the knowledge of needle work.
