Hand dye 2 skeins of bulky weight yarn (15% alpaca, 85% wool). We will create 2 colors: blue using indigo and a shade of pink by naturally dyeing with avocado pits. Each skein is 100 grams and about 100 yards, the perfect amount for a hat or pair of mittens.

Weaving 101

Take a break from the holiday whirl and explore tapestry weaving. You will learn to warp a simple loom, plain weave, create pile or fringe and remove the weaving from the loom and finish it.  Each student will have 2 small wooden looms (approx. 3” x 2 ¾”) to make wall hangings, necklaces or ornaments and a cardboard loom to experiment with.

Marbling

Don’t lose your marbles–keep them in a lovely marbled silk bag you make in this textile marbling workshop. You will learn about creating patterns by floating and manipulating fabric paints on a thickened surface. Each piece of fabric will be unique. Along with a 5” x 9” zippered silk bag, you will marble additional pieces of fabric and paper.

CALC Refund Policy for Art Classes
Carlisle Arts Learning Center does not provide a cash refund for cancellation of art classes, unless the class is cancelled by CALC. In order to request a withdrawal from a class or workshop, students must contact CALC at least 5 days before the first class meeting. Students who request a withdrawal at least 5 days prior to the first meeting will receive a 90% tuition class credit. Students withdrawing fewer than 5 days from the first day of class are not eligible for a class credit.
Please note we are unable to provide make-up opportunities, prorate or provide refunds for missed classes due to personal scheduling conflicts.
