CALC offers fun, creative & educational art programs for elementary and middle school children on “days off.” These classes are a collaboration with Dickinson College’s Trout Gallery. Programs will focus on language learning and art in fun-filled sessions designed to introduce children to foreign languages through art. Class fee includes all materials for projects, mid-morning snacks, pizza lunch and drink.

Play with Clay at the End of the Day

A fun after school clay class! This ceramic class will introduce a variety of hand building techniques as well as an introduction to the wheel. Students will create a minimum of two finished clay pieces of art. Special decorating techniques will be learned.

John Guarnera, has most recently taught children’s summer classes for CALC. He has previously taught both adult and children’s classes forthe Harrisburg Art Association, William Penn Memorial Museum, Harrisburg Craftsmen’s Guild, HACC, Harrisburg School District and several other central PA facilities. John is retired and works as an artist & potter.

Drawing Animals

Kids Drawing with Theresa Cipolla

3 Wednesdays
Oct. 18, 25; Nov. 1

Time: 4:30 p.m. – 5:45 p.m.

In this class students will learn how to draw animals  by breaking them down into basic shapes. We will explore ways to create form and texture using drawing pencils and colored pencils.

Theresa Cipolla graduated with honors from Millersville University with a BSE in Art Education. Currently, Theresa is an elementary art teacher with the Carlisle Area School District. She has previous experience teaching high school drawing, sculpture, pottery, and advanced 3D design. Her personal exploration in art making includes sculpture, bronze casting, a variety of printmaking techniques, ceramics, and drawing. Her primary influences for art making are nature as well as organic and emotional relationships.
