An introduction to drawing for beginners, this class will
discuss how to train our brains to really see. We will learn how to get into the “zone” and quiet our left brain. Graphite will be the primary medium introduced as we focus on thinking in shapes, light direction and tonal values to create realistic and even dramatic results.

Portrait Drawing

In this class we will be drawing portraits from live models. Instruction will be given in correct proportioning of features as well as capturing a likeness. Students must have a working knowledge and experience in basic drawing.

Drawing Workout for Painters

Not interested in making drawings? This “workout” will focus on drawing techniques and principles that strengthen your painting skills. Train your eye to draw what you see. Learn to capture the energy of a fleeting gesture, to think like a camera, to work with shapes and masses. We’ll cover contour drawing, chiaroscuro, and the basics of perspective. We’ll also look at some painting procedures that save time and energy. Instructor demonstrations, in-class exercises and constructive critique.
For beginner to intermediate artists.

Figure Drawing Group

Third Thursday of Every Month, - Next Session resumes May 18

Time: 7:00 - 9:00 p.m.

Fee: $60 (six session punch card)

Bring the materials of your choice & draw from a live, costumed model in a mix of long & short poses. No instruction provided, just time & space to draw from life.

Punch cards are available from CALC during regular hours or at the beginning of each session.


CALC Refund Policy for Art Classes

Carlisle Arts Learning Center does not provide a cash refund for cancellation of art classes, unless the class is cancelled by CALC. If the student cancels with a notice of at least 30 days prior to the start of the class a gift certi cate will be issued for 100% of the class fee. If the student cancels with less than 30 days prior notice a gift certi cate will be issued for 90% of the class value.
