TRY IT OUT an Open Experience of Wheel Throwing

Materials: $10 includes clay, firing and studio materials

A two-day workshop for understanding and experiencing the joy of ceramics. Get to know wheel throwing and what the CALC studio has to offer our community. A great start to any ceramic class and the perfect introduction to CALC’s Open Clay Studio. All skill levels are welcome.

NOTE: 2 student minimum required (so bring a friend), 4 student maximum.


TRY-IT-OUT: Part Two Glazing Time

Class cost: $20 (members $18)

Materials: $5 (includes glaze, firing and studio materials)
A one-day experience working with glaze. Any student welcome from Try-it-Out: Part One or Open Clay Studio participant.
NOTE: Bring your own low-fire bisque artwork or purchase a bisque bowl for $2 (mid-fire glaze classes offered upon request)
NOTE: 2 student minimum/4 student maximum (bring a friend and schedule early)


CLAY WORKSHOP

$150 (members $135) - for 5 consecutive Wednesdays

Materials: $25 ($15 for one 25 lb. bag of clay and $10 for glazes and firing)
This is a class designed for students interested in learning as much as possible in a short amount of time. It will focus on the relationship between form and function, as well as basic through advanced studio practices. You may work on the potter’s wheel, hand build, or sculpt and will be encouraged to participate in every step of the process from the production of workable clay to the firing of your finished pieces. Glazes will be covered if time permits.


HAND BUILDING with CLAY

Class cost: $80 (members $72)

Materials: $15 (this includes clay, glaze and firings)

New projects will include vessels and sculpture. We will stress design, craftsmanship and originality.


PLATES and PLATTERS DEMONSTRATION & HANDS-ON WORKSHOP

Class cost: $9 (members $8) One Open Clay Studio fee

Free instruction during Open Clay Studio (Tuesdays 6pm-9pm). Experience how clay can be thrown vertically and horizontally through live demonstrations and a hands-on workshop.
NOTE: 2 student minimum/4 student maximum (bring a friend and schedule early)

ONE DAY PROGRAM IN CERAMICS

Class cost: $10.00 per student
(minimum 14 students or the equivalent of $140 for this program)
Cost covers use of CALC, art instruction, studio tools, clay, and a kiln firings.

Studio Tour and Project
We will demonstrate wheel throwing and introduce students to a working studio.

( 1& 1/2 hour session)


THE SMALL Two Day PROGRAM:
A Ceramic Introduction

ages 5-10
Class cost: $15.00 per student
(minimum of 14 or equivalent of $210)
Cost covers use of CALC, art instruction, studio tools, clay, glaze, and two kiln firings.
The first meeting will demonstrate wheel throwing and introduce students to a working studio ( 1& 1/2 hour session) . We will make one project. The second meeting we will review kiln firing (1 hour session) and glaze projects. Projects are fired again for the glazed finish (glass finish). When firing is complete (approximately one week), CALC will telephone group for pick up.


THE MEDIUM Two Day PROGRAM:
A Ceramic Experience

Ages: 7-18
Class cost: $20.00 per student
(minimum of 12 or equivalent of $240)
Cost covers use of CALC, art instruction, studio tools, clay, glaze, and two kiln firings.

The first meeting will demonstrate wheel throwing and introduce students to a working studio (2 hour session). We will make two projects that meet requirements for different processes. The second meeting will review what was discussed about ceramics, processes, kiln firing, and glaze the projects (a 1 & 1/2 hour session). Projects are then fired again for the glazed finish (glass finish). CALC will call you to pick up the boxed projects usually within a week from the second visit.
