Weekly demonstrations will be followed by studio time for students to focus on personal techniques.  Students of all skill levels will be given individual instruction on an as needed basis and will be encouraged to participate in discussions about the ceramic medium and it’s relationship to art and to society.

Kurt Brantner, Ceramicist and Artist-In-Residence at CALC. Graduated from Kutztown University, Kutztown, PA with a BFA in painting. He worked in NC at Dirt Works Pottery for a one year apprenticeship, then continued there as a production and studio potter. His studio is in Boiling Springs, PA.

Craft Beer & Clay

A fun night out at CALC!

plus $20 materials fee per person

Classes start at 7 p.m.

Class & materials fee includes all materials and instruction as well as bevvies and snacks. All skill levels welcome--our experienced
potter, Thom Bissey, will insure that you’ll create a successful piece.

Using various pre thrown forms, students will learn how to make a cupcake stand or candle holder.

Try it Out! - RAKU Workshop

RAKU participants will glaze and fire a prepared form
that you will take home that night. This ancient Japanese process of ceramics yields dramatic results!

Clay Your Way, Your Day!

Customize your own wheel throwing experience for 1 to 5 students. Couples, groups of friends, or families will make this class extra fun and personal. One fee for the whole program whether a one or multiple student class.

In this class, you will be introduced to the CALC ceramic studio and clay basics. Each student’s pieces will be finish fired and made ready for a future pick-up.

Experienced clay artists are welcome to throw or hand build during open clay studio hours. Basic studio tools are available for community use and clay may be purchased for the following prices:

CALC Refund Policy for Art Classes

Carlisle Arts Learning Center does not provide a cash refund for cancellation of art classes, unless the class is cancelled by CALC. If the student cancels with a notice of at least 30 days prior to the start of the class a gift certi cate will be issued for 100% of the class fee. If the student cancels with less than 30 days prior notice a gift certi cate will be issued for 90% of the class value.
